Pic(k) of the week 42: KORTRIJK K-TOWER DURING BLUE HOUR

Kortrijk (Courtrai in French), is a medium size city in the western part of Belgium which originated as a Gallo-Roman town. It was formed in the Middle Ages on the crossroads of the river Leie and two major roads and became one the biggest and richest cities in Flanders after the wool and flax industry starting booking many centuries ago. 

In the last decennia, the city has gone through an entire transformation with some interesting modern buildings and infrastructures. In the image below we find a relatively new pedestrian/bicycle bridge as well as the new K-Tower; a 66m high residential building consisting of 19 floors. In Dubai standards definitively not called high-rise but in this part of the world the highest building around! 

The image below was shot on a partially cloudy evening just after sunset; often referred to as blue hour. Beside showing the actual building, I wanted to use the leading line of the bridge and also show the river and the green areas next to it.

I'm writing this post, as I'm finally traveling back to Dubai after an extended time-off in Belgium. As I've collected quite a bit of work over the last few weeks, one can expect a few more images shot in the same part of the world before showing again UAE based work.
