Pic(k) of the week 24: TAKE THE RIGHT TURN IN LIFE - Fujifilm X-100V

Beside a good basic understanding of the fundamentals, for me photography is all about "Learning to see". While it is nice to go out on a specific photowalk, there are images to be made whenever and wherever we are. Sometimes these happen completely out of the blue. While we can "Learn to see" without a camera, I'm always eager to document what catches my eye using a small camera!

While going out for an late afternoon the road was curving to the right... Stop. Frame. Click. I like how the surface looks wet with a feel of being shot at night, while none were the case. Composition wise, the photo works well because the pavement edging stones start and finish in the corners of the frame.

Image details:
  • Fujifilm X-100V
  • ISO 640, 1/250s, f8.0
  • shot in camera using Classic Negative (Colour)
  • Converted to Black and white in Lightroom CC
While I initially envisioned the image as being a colour image, in hindsight black and white works much better here as the image is all about structure, shape and contrast.

As the image is quite symbolic, I would happily hang a print on the wall. More than likely a dibond print and this type of aluminium print will work best here.

Remember: "Sometimes takes an unexpected wrong turn in the right direction" - anon
