GALLERY OF THE MONTH NOV 2023: DUBAI AIRSHOW 2023

This month's gallery is a brand new one: DUBAI AIRSHOW 2023.

Since I first came to Dubai in 2002, I've attended all of the biennial Dubai airshows. It has been great to see the shows evolve to what they are today; a large scale Aviation trade-show on par with the Paris and Farnborough events, that puts Dubai on the map.

It's not your typical airshow, but rather a trade-show which showcases the future of Aviation in both military and civil aircraft. Over the years, the Dubai Airshow has become a prime place where a lot of airlines and military forces are announcing new orders.

While there is a lot to see on the static flight line and inside the exhibition buildings, most of the images in the gallery show part of the in-flight demonstrations.

This year, I've also shot a fair bit of wider images to show the people attending the show. Being a UAE show, I wanted to especially photograph UAE Nationals watching the airshow. After all, they are the future of UAE Aviation.

FLYING THE FLAGSeveral military teams attended the 2023 show. One of the more spectacular ones were the Italian Frecce Tricolori, which display the three colours of the Italian flag;White represents the snow of the Italian Alps, Green the country's fertile plains and Red the blood spilled during the Italian wars of independence.

TWO GREAT UAE AVIATION SYMBOLS

Like all recent editions, the UAE Al Fursan team also flew their impressive demonstration every day of the show. Trying to frame both the team and part of an Emirates airliner showing the UAE flag, was a challenge but rewarding.

The latest and greatest Fighter jets like the F-35A Lightning II was also at the show; although it was not parked in the Static display.

SARANG INDIAN AIRFORCE HELICOPTER TEAMWe do not often see helicopter display teams in the Middle East. The Indian Air Force Sarang team flies 5 HAL Dhruv helicopters.

All major airline manufactures were also present, with both Boeing and Airbus showing off their latest and greatest airliners.

Boeing flew a very elegant display of the B-777X which is presently still in development and will become the largest twin engine airliner in the world.

Airbus on the other hand showcased the A350-1000, another good looking airliner!

Emirates airlines also had both their newest B777-300ER and A380 on static display. A perfect opportunity to frame some more close up shots.

I was lucky enough to attend two days of the 5 day show and I'm looking forward to the 2025 edition!
