Pic(k) of the week 10: WINTER WONDERLAND - OBERTAUERN, AUSTRIA
Photographing winter scenes in the mountains, has a lot of parallels with shooting desert landscapes here in Dubai. Be it sand or snow, one will be looking for the same interesting shapes and patterns.
A key difference is that one needs to "overexpose" about 2/3 of a stop to properly expose the snow as white. If not, the camera will try and bring it back to a light grey tone.
The image below shot on the new Fujifilm X-100V is a good illustration of this. I was particularly attracted by the dark and dramatic background and love how the dark blue tint gives a 'cold feel' over the image; the result of using the new "Classic Negative" film simulation.
