I also appreciate your personal setting and will surely try it, but I tend to keep both shadows and highlights at either -1 or -2 and noise at -1. Still not sure on the sharpness as I think the X-T10 has more sharpness already "built-in" to it's default setting? I have since picked up a used X-T10 as well as a X-E1 and while I am still in the early stages of my use of both cameras, I do like the improvements in the X-T10 and can see how the X-E1 is a bit "aging" in comparison! Certainly makes me want to try one of the latest models, but I still see the smearing in the X-Trans II sensor in the X-T10 and not as much in the X-E1. It's most apparent in green foliage. Thanks again for your reply and I will keep an eye out on your blog for future updates and reviews. Mahalo from Hawaii, Thomas Thomas G. I find the jpegs good; especially Velvia and Classic Chrome or however a bit different from the X-trans ones; hard to put my finger on what exactly, but they are clearly not the same. Personally have not problems with the X-trans II jpegs; tend to leep my noise reduction to -1 or -2 and sharpness for most subject to +1. Highlights -1 and Shadows +1 for most of my shooting. What are you thought...Thanks for the great review. What are you thoughts on the jpg quality? I have never cared for the jpgs from the X-Trans sensors especially the 2nd generation X-Trans (1st was okay, at least in the XE-1) and I had mixed feelings with the X100S. The electronic shutter makes it interesting and something I didn't know about the camera. Wished it came with the 18-55mm, at least as an option ....Thomas G.
